What is azores flag?

The flag of the Azores is a Blue, White and Black horizontal tricolour, with blue to the left side, the top of the flag. It has a yellow ornate emblem that is centered on the dividing line, made up of a cross with eight volutes like in the Portuguese shield in a circular border where the words "RAA - Açores" are inscribed in black letters. The eight volutes are thought to represent eight of the Azores Islands. The design was created by a local artist, Narciso Botelho, and officially adopted in 1979. The blue color represents the sky and the sea that surround the islands, the white represents the clouds and the black represents the volcanic soil of the islands. The emblem in the middle of the flag represents the faith and fertility of the people of the Azores, as well as the islands' importance as a gateway between Portugal and the New World.
